Sun's Cloud Computing Workshop, June 23, 2009
23-24 June 2009
In many ways, Cloud computing is a simply a metaphor for the Internet, the increasing movement of compute and data resources into the Web. But, there is a difference, cloud computing represents a new tipping point for the value of network computing. It delivers higher efficiency, massive scalability, and faster, easier software development. It's about new programming models, new IT infrastructure and the resulting enablement of new business models. For 25 years, Sun has been guided by the vision that "the network is the computer." With the explosion of cloud computing, that vision is truer than ever. As Cloud Computing service begins to evolve, it will continue to impact the way IT infrastructure is designed and delivered to meet the varied needs of Web, business and HPC users.
Join us for this not to be missed Cloud Computing Workshop by Sun's Cloud Technology Expert, Vasanthan Dasan. Seats are limited!

CoSpace Project
16 January 2009
CoSpace is a collaboration project between Singapore MDA and Sun Microsystems. CoSpace project will use the open source project from Sun Labs, called "Project Wonderland ". This project will focus on two areas:
Wonderland Framework for Sensor and Telemetry Integration
One of the most promising possible uses of virtual world technology such as Project Wonderland is using the virtual world to collaboratively monitor and interact with the real world. One way to do this is to instrument the real world, through the use of sensors and telemetry data, and bring that data into the virtual world in a way that groups of people can easily visualize, manipulate, and analyze the data.
This project would involve designing and building a Wonderland framework that would make it easy for developers to connect new sensors to Wonderland worlds.
Tool for Building Simulations within Wonderland Worlds
This project involves designing and developing an environment for building educational event based simulations within Wonderland worlds. The simulation framework would provide an easy way for programmers to create and texture programmatically generated objects along with artist-generated objects. An important aspect of this project is integrating a scripting feature for specifying how components in the simulation behave and the ways in which live users can interact with the components.

Performance Tuning Training, January 12, 2009
12 January 2009
Performance tuning has always been a difficult task requiring extensive knowledge
of the machine architecture and instructions. For developers who need faster
performance out of C, C++, or Fortran programs, Sun Studio compilers provide
several efficient methods. One and a half day training on 12-13 January 2009
will conducted Ruud Van Der Pas. He is the Senior Engineer, Technical Developer
Tools from Sun Microsystems.
Below are the detail of the Performance Tuning training:
